Chicago Bears
Chicago proudly hosts the National Football League's (NFL) Chicago Bears. The club was established in 1919, in Decatur, Illinois, where they were known as the Decatur Stanleys. They moved to Chicago in 1921 and were renamed the Bears.
The Bears began playing home games in Wrigley Field, but outgrew the stadium in 1971. Now, they call Soldier Field home, which is located next to Lake Michigan, on Lake Shore Drive.
Chicago Bulls
Chicago is the proud home of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Chicago Bulls. The team was created in 1966. The Bulls are most famous for their winning streak in the 1900s when they won six championships in eight years.
From 1966 through 1967, the Bulls played in the International Amphitheatre. They moved to Chicago Stadium, where they played until 1994. They now play home games in the Untied Center, located in the Near West Side community of Chicago.
Chicago White Sox
Major League Baseball (MLB) fans in Chicago can visit the White Sox. The White Sox franchise was established as a MLB club in 1900. They were originally called the Chicago White Stockings, but it is said that they changed the name because newspaper headlines would often abbreviate the name to Sox.
The franchise originally began playing home games at South Side Park, but moved to Comiskey Park in 1910. Since the move, the team played there until the late 1980, when New Comickey Park, renamed U.S. Cellular field in 2003.
Chicago Cubs
The other Major League Baseball (MLB) Chicago hosts is the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs were created in 1916, and have adopted the nickname "The Loveable Losers" because they have not won a championship in 102 years.
The Chicago Cubs have played home games at Wrigley Field since they began playing in 1916. Wrigley Field is located in Chicago's Lake View community on the north side.
Chicago Blackhawks
In 1926, Chicago found itself home to the Blackhawks, a professional hockey team. Commonly called the Hawks, the Blackhawks have won four Stanley Cup Championships and fourteen division titles.
The Hawks played hockey at Chicago Stadium for 65 years before they moved to the United Center in 1994. The United Center is located in the Near West Side community of Chicago.
